Mahabubur Rahaman, known as Mahabub, is a dedicated and highly competent legal professional who specialises in immigration law, with particular expertise in asylum, human rights, deportation, and further submissions (fresh claims). He also has significant experience in business and EU immigration, nationality matters, family law, civil litigation, commercial property, and public law.

Mahabub joined Diplock Solicitors in March 2019 and has since become known for his strong work ethic, client-focused approach, and commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes. Passionate and results-driven, he consistently prioritises his clients’ interests and satisfaction.

He began his legal career in 2015 as an administrator at Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and went on to work under the supervision of leading immigration barristers and solicitors across several prominent law chambers in the UK. Through this extensive experience, Mahabub has developed considerable expertise in handling judicial reviews, appeals, and fresh asylum claims. He has successfully assisted public access barristers in the representation of numerous complex cases.

Mahabub has a well-established reputation for handling human rights and asylum applications, particularly involving nationals from Bangladesh, Iran, Somalia, China, and Jamaica. His strong analytical skills and cultural awareness allow him to navigate complex cases with care and precision.

Education and Professional Development

Mahabub holds an Legal Practice Course from the University of Westminster and completed his Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Prior to converting to law, he earned a BA (Hons) in 2004 and an MA in 2005 from the University of Dhaka, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2009.

He has broadened his legal knowledge internationally through participation in two Summer School programmes focusing on European migration, diversity, and international criminal law at Stockholm University (Sweden) and the University of Antwerp (Belgium).

Over his career, Mahabub has worked with several esteemed organisations including the British Council, Thomson Reuters, REDRESS (a human rights organisation), Citizens Advice Bureau, King’s College London, and the London School of Economics. He also served as an ambassador for ‘Breaking Barriers’, a London-based refugee integration charity.

Mr Mahabub has studied LLM Legal Practice Course from the University of Westminster. He converted his degree to law through Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) in 2016-17. He completed B.A. (Hon’s) in 2004 and M.A. in 2005 from University of Dhaka. Subsequently, he attained Post Graduation Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2009. He is keen to research on law, human rights and media.
